Description

The Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology (VTPP), School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University (https://physiology.tamu.edu/) invites high caliber applicants for a full-time (9-month) position at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor with a primary emphasis in cardiovascular physiology. Qualified candidates will be provided the opportunity to supplement full-time salary with salary savings from funded grants. We are particularly interested in candidates using molecular, cellular and/or genetic approaches to investigate endocrine or age-related influences on cardiovascular disease and disease processes with a strong interest in the use of small and large animal models to test hypotheses. Anticipated start date is April 2024.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an energetic, extramurally well-funded research program; engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research; as well as teach in the undergraduate, graduate or veterinary professional programs, and provide service to the profession.  Academic rank and salary are commensurate with candidate experience. 

Qualifications

Candidates are required to have either a PhD, DVM or MD and a research focus in the field of translational cardiovascular physiology and biology.  For applicants with PhD degrees, a clinically relevant cardiovascular research program is expected. 

 

Candidates to the rank of tenured Associate Professor are expected to have an established, federally funded research program.

 

Candidates to the rank of Assistant Professor must have a successful postdoctoral training experience with a record of research excellence and strong potential for obtaining competitive federal grants to support their research agenda.  A strong track record of peer-reviewed publications as well as evidence of a potential for teaching and mentorship are also desired.  The successful applicant must also possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills with a demonstrated ability to work with others.

 

For applicants with professional degrees in medicine or veterinary medicine, board certification in cardiology-related disciplines will be viewed favorably.
