Description

The Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering, College of Engineering, at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time tenured/tenure-track position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning as early as Fall 2024. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of professor, associate professor, or assistant professor depending on qualifications. This position will focus on interdisciplinary engineering education and be expected to provide leadership for development of research and academic programs in this area.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach, advise, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students; develop/continue an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession.

Engineering education has been identified in the department’s strategic plan as a primary focus area, and a variety of resources are being invested to promote it. The program currently includes masters and doctoral curricula and multiple faculty working in the field at all ranks. TAMU’s College of Engineering is one of the largest in the country with over 24,000 students, 15 departments, and academic programs spanning the breadth of engineering, with growth continuing under the “25 by 25” initiative. Thus, abundant opportunities exist for scholarship in teaching and learning in a wide variety of contexts and applications. The department’s vision is to be an internationally recognized leader in the field of interdisciplinary engineering education, and this position is intended to provide leadership towards that goal.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an earned PhD (or equivalent terminal degree) in engineering, engineering education, or a closely related discipline. Applicants should have a demonstrated record of scholarship in interdisciplinary engineering education that positions them as an emerging or established leader in the field.
