Description

The Department of Primary Care & Rural Medicine, School of Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1), full-time, Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) position with an 11-month academic appointment beginningin in the fall of 2024.  Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor depending on qualifications.  The Texas A&M University School of Medicine educates medical students and trains residents for a broad scope of practices that prepare them to practice in urban, suburban, and rural settings, or to consider a career in Academic Family Medicine.  The responsibilities for the successful candidate include but are not limited to:  direct patient care in a multi-specialty setting with a Midwife and Advanced Nurse Practitioners; teaching clinical practice of medicine to medical students, nursing students, and residents; and rotation with other faculty in the coverage of inpatient hospital services and development of physician's clinical practice.  Scholarly activity in the form of publication, education process, research, etc. should be a metric of each academic appointment.  

The area is a small city with extensive surrounding rural areas yet only 90 minutes from Austin or Houston.  The university assures both cultural and sports entertainment and excellent schools and neighborhoods.  Local healthcare infrastructure includes the School of Medicine, 3 general hospitals and over 400 clinicians of various medical specialities.  

Qualifications

Required:

  • MD, DO, or equivalent professional degree
  • Residency trained
  • Board certified or board eligible in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFM), or board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics/Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG), or American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology (AOBOG)
  • Demonstration of ongoing learning equivalent to the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFM), American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG), or American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology (AOBOG) maintenance of certification process
  • Current Texas medical license or eligible to obtain licensure in the state of Texas

Preferred:

  • Women's health, geriatric and menopausal care, obstetric care, gynecology, and/or advanced procedural skills.
  • Experience practicing with Midwives and Advanced Nurse Practitioners
