Description

The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University, College Station (http://philosophy.tamu.edu) seeks outstanding applicants for a position at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialization in Decision Theory. The proposed starting date is August 1, 2025. This is a 9 month, full-time position, with a typical teaching load of 2:2. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Duties for this position include teaching assigned courses, graduate and undergraduate advising; research in the candidate’s areas of expertise that will result in publications with appropriate journals and university presses (or other equivalent academic presses), as well as other research outputs, such as grants, fellowships, awards, and scholarly presentations; and service that includes participation in faculty meetings, departmental committees and other departmental initiatives as assigned, as well as service to the college, university, and profession

The Department of Philosophy at Texas A&M has areas of strength in Value Theory & Applied Ethics, Decision Theory, Logic, & Rationality, Continental Philosphy, and Philosophies of the Global South, thus offering an intellectually rich environment in which to pursue scholarship and teach. The Department encourages applicants who will complement these areas of research strength, as well as contribute to our undergraduate program in Society, Ethics, and the Law. 

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Philosophy or closely related discipline is required. Successful candidates will have a record of research excellence as evidenced by an active program of research, a record of high-quality publications, academic presentations, and other research outcomes.
