Description

The Department of Geology and Geophysics in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University is seeking applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in Solid Earth and Planetary Geoscience broadly defined.  The successful candidate should address one or more grand challenges in Solid Earth and Planetary Geoscience, including but not limited to topics such as:

  • Formation and evolution of crust and mantle of the Earth and other planetary bodies
  • Deep planetary processes and conditions including their linkages to surface processes
  • Cycling of volatiles and critical elements
  • Fundamental studies of plate boundary processes

We welcome experimental, field, computational, or combined approaches to address one or more of these challenges. The successful applicant will lead a vibrant, cutting-edge research program that should complement existing research strengths of the Department of Geology & Geophysics.  We seek outstanding collaborative faculty who are ready to develop multi-disciplinary approaches that address national and international-scale initiatives.  The anticipated starting date is Fall 2025.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an independent and externally funded research program and contribute to quality teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  The candidate is also expected to participate in service activities in the Department, College and University, national and international professional communities, and participate in outreach activities.  Texas A&M University is a Hispanic-serving, land-, sea-, and space-grant university, located at the center of the Bryan/College Station metro area with a dynamic and international community of over 270,000 people.  Information about the Department of Geology & Geophysics can be found at: http://artsci.tamu.edu/geology-geophysics

Qualifications

Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or equivalent in a related research discipline prior to the starting date.
