Description

The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution at Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenured or tenure track faculty position in the Industrial Distribution Program at the assistant, associate, or full professor levels starting in Fall 2025. Preference will be given to candidates with recent and relevant hands-on experience with: industrial distribution and operations management, supply chain modeling and analysis, supply chain resilience and sustainability, and wholesale distribution value creation and channel development.

The successful applicant will teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; advise and mentor graduate students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession. Through effective industrial advisory committees that provide valuable guidance, the department has numerous opportunities for the development of laboratories and sponsorship of applied research activities. By being an integral part of the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University, there is excellent interaction with faculty in other programs to support large-scale interdisciplinary college initiatives, as well as access to graduate students to assist in instructional and applied research activities. The interested faculty in the industrial distribution program will have opportunities to work with industry through Thomas and Joan Read Center for Distribution Research and Education and other Institutes and Centers of the Texas A&M research enterprise.

 

Department Info:

The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution is unique among the 15 departments within the College of Engineering, due to its strong focus on applied research and undergraduate education. The Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution Department blends engineering and business knowledge, methods, and research. This department consists of four distinct undergraduate programs and three graduate programs - two distance education and one resident graduate program. Minors in Embedded Systems Integration, Technical Sales, and Information Technology Services Management are also available. As the largest in student enrollment (over 2600 undergraduate and 280 graduate students) in the college, the department has 112 faculty members, including 36 tenured/tenure-track and 76 full and part-time academic professional track faculty members to support academic programs in electronic systems engineering technology, multidisciplinary engineering technology, manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology, information technology service management, and industrial distribution. Department research expenditures exceed $10 million annually supporting areas such as embedded systems, communications, advanced manufacturing, intelligent product design and development, information technology management, human-computer interaction, robotics and automation, sales management, distribution operations and supply chain management (led by the Thomas and Joan Read Center for Distribution Research and Education), engineering education  and workforce development.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in industrial engineering, supply chain management, management science, decision sciences, operations research, applied engineering or a closely related discipline. Strong preference is given to applicants with at least one degree in engineering or a related technical field. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
