Description

The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1) full-time Instructional Assistant/Associate Professor or Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice (depending on qualifications) with a 9-month non-tenure accruing academic appointment beginning Spring 2025.

The Art & Design section within the College seeks an individual who demonstrates expertise in one or more of the following:

        2D/3D Design Foundations    

        Painting     

        Drawing / Illustration

        Pre-Visualization     

        Digital Asset Creation    

The successful candidate will have  strong interest, skill, and experience in both traditional and digital mediums.  Candidates should be able to teach a variety of courses in the undergraduate degree programs in Visualization geared towards enhancing foundational skills in traditional and digital media.

Candidates are expected to teach undergraduate courses in Art & Design within the Visualization program, contribute to conversations about implementing existing curriculum pertaining to the Visualization program, particularly in Art & Design, and contribute to academic service.   Potential course assignments include:

        2D/3D Design

        Drawing

        Storyboarding

        Digital Painting

        Motion Graphics

        and/or Digital Asset Creation.

 

The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts is a college within the Texas A&M University System and has a dynamic mission with nearly 100 faculty and more than 30 staff members and a projected exponential growth in the next five years. The college was formed from three departments/programs spread across the university: the Department of Visualization, the Department of Performance Studies, and the Dance Science Program. The mission of PVFA places a heavy emphasis on faculty and student collaboration and interdisciplinary work in both scholarly and creative research. Qualifications

Candidates must have a well-developed creative works portfolio that will inform and advance current trends in the field as well as their teaching acumen.

For appointment at the ranks of Instructional Assistant or Associate Professor candidates must have a terminal degree (PhD or MFA) in a related field as described above by appointment start date.

  • Instructional Assistant Professor must have a minimum of one year of teaching experience in higher education with a strong portfolio of professional and student work.
  • Instructional Associate Professor must have a minimum of eight years of teaching experience in higher education with a strong portfolio of professional and student work.

For appointment at the ranks of  Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice, candidates must have an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting, or maintain a license or certification that qualifies them as a professional in their field.

  • Assistant Professor of Practice must have  a minimum of three years in their industry. A strong portfolio of professional and student work is preferred.
  • Associate Professor of Practice  must have a minimum of eight years in their industry. A strong portfolio of professional and student work is preferred.
