Description

The Department of Primary Care & Rural Medicine, College of Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1), full-time, Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) position with an 11-month appointment beginning Spring 2025.  Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor depending on qualifications.  The Texas A&M University College of Medicine educates medical students and trains residents for a broad scope of practices that prepare them to practice in urban, suburban, and rural settings, or to consider a career in Academic Family Medicine.  The position will be based in Madisonville, TX, a small rural city with extensive surrounding rural areas yet only 45 minutes from Bryan/College Station.  

Responsibilities:

  • Direct patient care
  • Teaching clinical practice of medicine to medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Supervision of residents and fellows
  • Night and weekend call
  • Rotation with other faculty in the coverage of inpatient hospital services
  • Development of physician's clinical practice
  • Scholarly activity in the form of publication, educational process, research, etc

Qualifications

Required:

  • MD, DO, or equivalent professional degree
  • Residency trained
  • Current Texas medical license or eligible to obtain licensure in the state of Texas
  • Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP)
  • Demonstration of ongoing learning activities equivalent to the ABFM or AOBFP Maintenance of Certification process

Preferred:

  • Inpatient hospital medicine
  • Inpatient/Outpatient pediatrics
  • Other advanced procedural skills
