Applications are invited for the position of Department Head of Periodontics in the College of Dentistry at Texas A&M University. This full time tenured, tenure-track, or academic professional track (non tenure) faculty position with an 11-month academic appointment beginning September 1, 2025. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Associate Professor, Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor depending on qualifications and commensurate with credentials.
Responsibilities as a department faculty member will include participating in teaching at both predoctoral and postdoctoral levels, research and service. This position calls for a person with administrative experience, preferably in academic dental institutions and one who promotes an environment of integrity, respect, and collegiality. Responsibilities of the position as department head include the administration of the faculty and staff for the predoctoral education program and experience in oversight of CODA-accredited advanced education program in Periodontics. The department head is eligible as per the College of Dentistry policy for opportunities to participate in extramural private practice in the community, for appropriately qualified individuals. Candidates should have a track record of national and/or international leadership, clinical practice, leadership experience, and demonstrated fiscal responsibility in academic operations, and related scholarly achievements. The Department Head is also expected to have evidence of mentoring and promoting faculty and staff development. It is expected that the Department Head will expand opportunities for scholarship and research, including protocol-driven, externally-funded translational research and clinical research initiatives in alignment with the mission of the College of Dentistry. The selected candidate’s salary and start-up package will be commensurate with credentials and experience.
The department head is fiscally responsible for department operations and reports directly to the Dean of Texas A&M University College of Dentistry.
