Description

The Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track, faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning August 3, 2026. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Assistant Professor. The successful applicant will be committed to teaching, research and service.

The department holds consistently high ratings in global rankings of University hospitality, tourism and recreation programs and has an established record of accomplishment in teaching, research and public service. Our distinguished and multi-disciplinary faculty have authored hundreds of journal articles, books, and technical reports, and have provided intellectual leadership internationally in hospitality, tourismevents and recreation. We will continue our mission of responding to societal needs, generating and disseminating knowledge to increase understanding of relationships amongst people, environments and the visitor economy. We are re-imagining and elevating hospitality as well as advancing wellness and prosperity through positive experiences in sustainable settings. We provide a supportive scholarly environment and are expanding our interdisciplinary collaborations within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and beyond.

The holder of the advertised position will maintain a research program and pursue external funding opportunities while teaching and mentoring students, and contributing to the fast growing hospitality and tourism sector in Texas and beyond.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. degree is required in a discipline relevant to the scope of the department including but not limited to hospitality management, hotel and lodging management, tourism management, event and meeting management, restaurant and foodservice management, revenue and financial management, or other relevant field. Current Ph.D. candidates must have their degree in hand by the date of hiring. 

Preferred Experience: Successful candidates will have a strong pedagogical background and have demonstrated effective communication skills through instructional activities and outreach, in-class and online along with significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field. 

Candidates will preferably have acquired professional experience in hospitality and/or hotel management. Applications are welcome from individuals who are completing a Ph.D. and who have potential for research productivity including external funding.Favorable consideration will be given to applicants who have the capacity to attract external funding and to supervise graduate students. Applications are also encouraged from those holding junior faculty positions elsewhere and who bring a track record of research publications and external funding.
