Description

The Department of Kinesiology & Sport Management (KNSM) (https://knsm.tamu.edu) within the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University is accepting applications for one full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. We are seeking candidates who are well versed in the neural control of human movement, specifically locomotion/gait, that can conduct independent basic or clinical/translational research. Strong candidates will be emerging scholars with a basic or applied human subjects research program that will advance the current department’s research strengths. The candidate will become an integral part of the Kinesiology faculty, with expectations to engage in research efforts including interdisciplinary collaborations, aggressively seek funding opportunities, provide research mentorship for students, as well as teach graduate/undergraduate courses, and be involved in service responsibilities. 

Appointment: Nine-month, full-time, tenure-track position with a start date of August 1, 2026. All tenure-track faculty members are expected to make significant contributions in the area of scholarly research/creative work, teaching and service.  Salary, benefits, and compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Very competitive startup packages are available to establish a productive research environment. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Must hold a doctoral degree in Kinesiology or related academic discipline relevant to motor neuroscience, biomechanics, exercise science, or related field
  • Must have training and experience in human subject research with a record of peer-reviewed publications in high-quality journals and presentations at national meetings
  • Must demonstrate a feasible plan for acquiring internal and external funding for cross-disciplinary research
  • Must have previous scholarship addressing neural control of gait and/or balance utilizing virtual and/or augmented reality and/or neural physiological tools such as EEG, fMRI, and/or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
  • Must show evidence of effective teaching, whether that is through guest lectures, teaching assistantships, and/or course direction, as well as mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students 
  • Must show evidence of commitment and collaboration
  • Must show evidence of specific accomplishments demonstrating expertise in the area of Kinesiology that complements existing faculty
