Description

The Department of Translational Medical Sciences (TMS) in the Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1) full-time, tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor with an 11-month academic appointment term beginning in the winter of 2026.  The Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine educates medical students and trains residents for a broad scope of practices that prepare them for practice in urban, suburban, and rural settings.  The responsibilities for the successful candidate include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain an independent, extramurally funded research program as well as collaborate with faculty from the Institute of Biosciences and Technology, Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine, and the Health Science Center.
  • Assist with the training of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in the PhD Program in Medical Sciences, the Biotechnology Training Track, and the Institute of Biosciences and Technology's Post-doctoral Training Program.
  • Professional conduct conducive to a collegial work environment and standards of professional integrity that will advance the interests of Texas A&M University;
  • An area of specialization germane to the research programs of Texas A&M University.
  • Serve on academic advisory committees.

The Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine’s expectations for holding a tenure-track position include effective graduate classroom teaching; mentoring and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students and post-doctoral students, particularly recruiting and mentoring of doctoral students and guiding them through graduation in a timely manner; establishment of a sustainable research program through external funding; publication of papers with students in venues that demonstrate impact; and providing a degree of service to Texas A&M University and the professional community.

Qualifications

Required:

1. Ph.D. in Medical Sciences, Bioinformatics, or related field.

2.  A minimum of two years of postdoctoral experience in related fields. Evidence of strong research abilities and a strong record of original research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and productive collaborative research programs. Evidence of grant writing ability and potential for scholarship.

2. An exemplary level of accomplishment as measured against the contribution to others in her/his field, and evidence of a commitment to maintaining the level of competence in research expected of a faculty member.

3. Professional conduct conducive to a collegial work environment and standards of professional integrity that will advance the interests of Texas A&M University.

4. An area of specialization germane to the research programs of Texas A&M University.

Preferred: 

1. Experience in engagement in core laboratory operations.
