The School of Engineering Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time,11-month academic professional track (non-tenure), faculty position at the Instructional assistant professor, Instructional associate professor, and Instructional professor level, depending on qualifications, to teach clinical medicine in the pre-clinical curriculum. Anticipated start date Spring-Summer 2026.
EnMed is the School of Engineering Medicine’s innovative medical education program, developed in a partnership with the, Texas A&M College of Medicine, Texas A&M College of Engineering and Houston Methodist Hospital, to educate “physicianeers,” a new kind of physician who will create transformational technology to solve health care’s greatest challenges. The EnMed medical education program offers a blended engineering and medicine curriculum with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. EnMed is the nation’s only program that allows graduates to receive both the Master of Engineering and Doctor of Medicine degrees in four years. EnMed is located in Houston’s Texas Medical Center (TMC).
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Participate in developing and delivering the pre-clerkship curriculum and working with other member of the EnMed faculty to intergrate medical training with instruction in applying enginereing principles toward advancing medical innovation and improving clinical medicine
- Teach within the intergrated organ-block courses in the pre-clerkship curriculum, with focus on differential diagnosis and applying foundational science concepts
- Lead pre-clerkship courses based on areas of expertise
- Contribute to curricular development and development of innovative instructional methods, participation in committees and admissions, and fostering collaboration among the three EnMed partners
