Description

The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University, College Station (https://artsci.tamu.edu/philosophy) seeks outstanding applicants for a position at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialization in French and/or Francophone Phenomenology. The proposed start date is August 1, 2026. This is a 9-month, full-time position, with a typical teaching load of 2:2, but with a reduced teaching load for the first year. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, as well as a highly competitive startup. Duties for this position include teaching assigned courses, graduate and undergraduate advising; research in the candidate’s areas of expertise that will result in publications with appropriate journals and university presses (or other equivalent academic presses), as well as other research outputs, such as grants, fellowships, awards, and scholarly presentations; and service that includes participation in faculty meetings, departmental committees and other departmental initiatives as assigned, as well as service to the college, university, and profession.

The Department of Philosophy at Texas A&M has areas of strength in Continental Philosophy; Formal Philosophy and Decision Theory; Philosophies of the Global South; and Value Theory & Applied Ethics, thus offering an intellectually rich environment in which to pursue scholarship and teach. The Department encourages applicants who will complement and strengthen these areas of research, as well as contribute to our undergraduate program in Society, Ethics, and Law (SEAL).

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Philosophy or closely related discipline is required.
