Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Assistant Professor.
We seek two highly qualified and motivated individuals with expertise in Maritime Logistics and Maritime Management to complement our research in maritime business and to work with an interdisciplinary team of faculty to develop both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in maritime business. While specialization is open, research expertise should be focused on the following, with preference given to candidates whose interests align with the maritime industry.
· Position 1 (MARITIME LOGISTICS). The successful candidate will conduct research and education in maritime supply chain management, focusing on topics such as maritime transportation, port and terminal operations, warehousing and freight distribution, and international trade.
· Position 2 (MARITIME MANAGEMENT). The successful candidate will conduct research and education in maritime management, focusing on topics such as finance, marketing, leadership, strategy, entrepreneurship in maritime shipping, and port management.
In both positions, expertise in cybersecurity, decarbonization, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, geospatial technologies, or the cruise industry is considered an advantage.
The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the advancement of knowledge through high-quality publications in leading academic journals, teach courses with rigorous academic content at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and engage in service and outreach activities that advance the educational mission of the department, the college, and the university. Successful appointees to these positions will be expected to 1) develop and maintain externally funded, independent research programs with recognition through publication in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and 2) contribute to the department's undergraduate and graduate degree programs through teaching in their area of expertise and mentoring students. Appointees will also be expected to pursue, where mutually beneficial, interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers across the university and to provide professional service to the department, college, and university.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, and competitive start-up packages will be available to support the development of extramurally funded and independent research programs.
