The Department of Public Service and Administration in The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University is seeking a non-tenure academic professional track Associate Professor of the Practice or Professor of the Practice. We seek candidates whose demonstrated leadership and career achievements equip them to inspire and mentor undergraduate and graduate students who seek similar careers. We invite applications from candidates with significant accomplishments in homeland security, emergency management, border security, cybersecurity, and/or counterterrorism. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in applicable laws and policies governing the homeland defense and homeland security missions, government operations, intergovernmental relations, and a knowledge of bureaucracy relevant to both the public and private sectors. Successful applicants will contribute to the development and implementation of our Homeland Security and National Defense area of specialization. A strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students in an academic setting is essential.
This is a full-time, 9-month appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out a vigorous program of teaching, a load of 3:3, at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
The start date for this position is August 1, 2026.
