Description

The Department of Communication and Journalism in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in its Humanities & Critical/Cultural Studies Division, with a focus on organizational communication. Successful candidates will be expected to publish, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and engage in service activities. This full-time, 9-month academic appointment has an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. 

Ideal candidates will have a robust research agenda centered on organizational communication from interpretive, cultural, and/or critical perspectives. Candidates investigating organizational practices related to meaning-making, power, conflict, and identity across institutional, community-based, nonprofit, and/or corporate contexts are welcome to apply. We are particularly interested in research that examines organizational discourse, culture, ethics, governance, and/or alternative forms of organizing, and that addresses social issues and communicative phenomena that reinforce departmental strengths in engaged communication research, civic engagement, critical/cultural studies, rhetorical studies, political communication, media studies, and/or journalism.

The Department of Communication and Journalism administers BA and BS degrees in the fields of communication, media, and journalism, and we offer PhD and MA degrees in Communication. We have over 40 faculty members, more than 35 communication graduate students, and approximately 1,600 undergraduate students. The department promotes a welcoming and supportive workplace and is organized into three broad research and curricular divisions: Communication & Media ScienceHumanities & Critical/Cultural Studies, and Journalism & Media Practices. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Communication or a related field.
  • Demonstrated record of research excellence. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Record of interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
  • Record of teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
