Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure): Lecturer of Chinese

The Department of Global Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1) full-time academic professional track (non-tenure) Lecturer position in Chinese language with a 9-month academic appointment beginning in fall 2026.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach four (4) courses per semester in Chinese language, from the Beginning to the Advanced level, and to contribute to program building in Chinese studies. Depending on program needs, there may also be opportunity to teach advanced courses in Chinese Fiction and Chinese Film. 

The department is especially interested in candidates with expertise in areas such as:

·         Academic Establishment and Education Model of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in the United States

·         Grammar Instruction in Integrated Chinese

·         Comparative Analyses of Grammar in North American Chinese Textbooks

·         Chinese Language Learning Motivation

The Department of Global Languages and Cultures offers degrees/programs in modern languages and Classics, and graduate degrees in Hispanic Studies, in addition to offering undergraduate minors in African Studies, Religious Studies, and Jewish Studies. Required: Applicant must hold an M.A. in Chinese or related field and have significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or a related field.

Preferred:  

·        Ph.D in Chinese or a related field

·        Training in Teaching English to Speakers of Other languages, in addition to native proficiency in Chinese.

·        Experience teaching all levels of Chinese language at the undergraduate level as well as Chinese Fiction and Chinese Film

·        Expertise in language pedagogy and linguistic development and curricular design

·        Five years of teaching experience in higher education.
