The Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a nine-month academic appointment. An additional summer appointment may be available, contingent upon departmental need and the availability of funds. The anticipated start date is Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
Applicants will be considered at the Assistant Professor level in Civil & Environmental Engineering, with a focus on water resources engineering. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate strong fundamental knowledge in a core area of water resources engineering and the ability to apply this expertise to address societally relevant water resources challenges.
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: groundwater sustainability, aquifer management and hydrogeology; nature-based solutions for water quality improvement and flood management; smart water systems, including digital twin models and coupled water infrastructure modeling; and low impact development for stormwater management. Applicants with a significant background in geomatics or other related GIS application areas for teaching in these areas are of particular interest.
Candidates should demonstrate rigorous training in water resources engineering and/or fluid mechanics, along with strong potential to contribute to the field through original scholarship, effective teaching and student mentoring, and service to the university and the profession. The successful applicant will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate research students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in departmental activities; and contribute to professional service.
