The School of Engineering Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications for a part-time, visiting faculty position. Applicants will be considered for the non-tenure track faculty title of Visiting Instructional Assistant Professor. The selected candidate will teach clinical medicine in the pre-clerkship curriculum and contribute to the educational mission of EnMed. The appointment effort may be adjusted to align with the candidate’s availability and program needs. The anticipated start date is Summer to Fall 2026.
EnMed is the School of Engineering Medicine’s innovative medical education program, developed in a partnership with the Texas A&M College of Medicine, Texas A&M College of Engineering, and Houston Methodist Hospital, to educate “physicianeers,” a new kind of physician who will create transformational technology to solve health care’s greatest challenges. The EnMed medical education program offers a blended engineering and medicine curriculum with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. EnMed is the nation’s only program that allows graduates to receive both the Master of Engineering and Doctor of Medicine degrees in four years. EnMed is located in Houston’s Texas Medical Center (TMC).
Duties/Responsibilities
- Teach selected sessions within the integrated organ‑block courses in the pre-clerkship curriculum, with emphasis on differential diagnosis and the application of foundational science concepts
- Teach targeted history and physical examination sessions within the pre-clerkship clinical skills courses, focusing on high-yield clinical skills instruction
- Contribute to the development and delivery of specific pre-clerkship learning materials, including clinical cases and clinically focused activities, using active learning instruction
- Participate in some curricular planning meetings and faculty development activities that support assigned teaching responsibilities
