Description

Texas A&M University School of Nursing is accepting applications for two full-time non-tenure track Lecturer positions in Round Rock, Texas. These positions will teach undergraduate BSN courses for the Round Rock campus. The faculty positions are full-time non-tenure track positions at the rank of Lecturer and are expected to have a 9-month appointment with a potential summer contract and is anticipated to begin in Fall 2023.

The School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Traditional, Second degree, and RN to BSN), MSN-Family Nurse Practitioner, MSN-Nursing Education, MSN-Forensic Nursing, DNP, graduate certificate in Forensic Health Care and PMHNP post-graduate certificate. Future plans include a PhD program and additional graduate and post-graduate certificate programs. We are a growing school within Texas A&M University with programs located in Bryan, Texas (primary location), Round Rock, Texas and a new campus location in McAllen is planned for Spring 2026.

The School of Nursing is one of five schools that comprise the Texas A&M Health Science Center. Drawing from our vast network of scientists, educators, and clinical partners, we educate highly qualified graduates who are equipped to address the health needs of an ever-changing population in Texas, the nation, and the world. Lecturer Track

All Lecturer track faculty are expected to teach as their primary responsibility. Instruction in the school of nursing is complex, given the practice nature of the discipline, and includes content and clinical mastery. These expectations are broadly described as expectations to:

  • Develop new courses according to curriculum and accreditation standards.
  • Prepare course materials and examinations that are current, evaluated, and revised to improve student learning.
  • Teach effectively in the online environment and clinical setting.
  • Select and manage quality clinical learning experiences in a variety of settings.
  • Provide competent clinical supervision of students.
  • Evaluate student performance effectively.
  • Advise and mentor students for academic success.
  • Maintain posted online office hours.
  • Collaborate with and mentor faculty peers.
  • Maintain clinical currency and relevant certifications

 

All faculty are expected to participate in service activities to the University, the school, and to the profession. Service activities include school and university committees, participate in accreditation or self-study writing, advisement of student organizations, and clinical practice if part of the assigned faculty role.

The anticipated start date is October 1, 2023.

Qualifications

Required Education:

Minimum degree required is a Master’s Degree in Nursing.

Required Experience:

Significant experience teaching at the baccalaureate or higher level, is required. 

Two or more years of recent nursing practice experience is required.

Preferred Experience:

Undergraduate clinical teaching experience. 

Online teaching experience.

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

o    Community Health

o    Medical Surgical

o    Obstetrics

o    Pediatrics

Required Registrations, Certifications and Licenses:

Must hold a current RN license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.

Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
