The Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1) Academic Professional Track (non-tenure) or Visiting (Non-Tenure) faculty position (full or part-time) at the lecturer, senior lecturer, visiting lecturer, visiting senior lecturer, instructional assistant professor, instructional associate professor, instructional professor, visiting instructional assistant professor, visiting instructional associate professor, visiting instructional professor, assistant professor of practice, associate professor of practice, professor of practice, visiting assistant professor of the practice, visiting associate professor of the practice or visiting professor of the practice rank in Architectural Engineering with skills in building engineering project design and delivery, building systems integration, sustainable rating systems, and interdisciplinary coordination of project teams. The ideal candidate for this position will have professional and teaching experience in two or more of the following areas of architectural engineering: building enclosures; mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems; building acoustics; building electrical, lighting, power, and controls; structures and construction systems. The candidate is expected to teach existing undergraduate courses, assist with the creation of new courses, and to provide service to the program and department as appropriate to the appointment.

The successful candidate will also continue to support building the newly ABET accredited Architectural Engineering program at Texas A&M's College of Engineering. This is a 9-month academic appointment, with the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning as early as January 2024. Duties and responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate courses in the curriculum of the Bachelor of Science Architectural Engineering degree, supporting the on-going development, program assessment, and growth of the Architectural Engineering program, engaging a wide network of industry partners in various activities that yield direct benefits to the objectives and students in the program, collaborating with faculty across disciplines, in particular those in the College of Engineering and College of Architecture, serving on committees within the university, advising and mentoring undergraduate students to achieve academic success, as well as mentoring student leaders and advising project and competition teams. All candidates must show a strong commitment to teaching excellence in architectural engineering.

Qualifications

• (Lecturer / Visiting Lecturer ranks) Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: a) have a terminal degree in architectural engineering (have a Doctoral level degree), b) have a Master level degree in architectural engineering and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field, or c) have an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting.  There may be additional requirements depending on the specific faculty title.

• (Instructional / Visiting Instructional Professor ranks) Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: a) have a terminal degree in architectural engineering (have a Doctoral level degree), b) have a Master level degree in architectural engineering and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field, or c) have an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting.  There may be additional requirements depending on the specific faculty title.

• (Professor of Practice / Visiting Professor of Practice ranks) Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: a) have a terminal degree in architectural engineering (have a Doctoral level degree), b) have a Master level degree in architectural engineering and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field, or c) have an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting.  There may be additional requirements depending on the specific faculty title.
