The Department of Aerospace Engineering, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment, with the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning Fall 2024. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of assistant, associate, and full professor. Candidates will be considered in two areas: hypersonics and mechanics of materials and structures.
For the area of hypersonics we are seeking expertise on: computational fluid mechanics of hypersonic and hypervelocity flows, experimental aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics for hypersonic flight and flight dynamics and control for hypersonic flight.
For the area of mechanics of materials and structures, we are seeking expertise on: characterization and analysis of the mechanics of materials systems, as may be relevant across a wide range of aerospace applications for improved design, manufacturability and/or service performance; multiscale modeling of a range of behaviors, including material and structural failures and multiphysical couplings; candidates with strong experimental background who have demonstrated a successful record of combining modeling and experimental research will also be considered.
The successful applicants will be required to teach; advise and mentor graduate students; develop an independent externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession. Applicants should consult the department’s website to review our academic and research programs (https://engineering.tamu.edu/aerospace).
