The School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) at Texas A&M University (http://vetmed.tamu.edu/) invites applications for a clinical track Assistant, Associate or full Professor position to serve as a veterinary clinical educator in the DVM 2 2 program at the Texas A&M Veterinary Education, Research & Outreach (VERO) center at West Texas A&M University campus in Canyon, Texas (https://vetmed.tamu.edu/vero/employment-opportunities/). The anticipated start date for the position is late Spring 2024. The successful candidate will have a VMBS academic home in either the Veterinary Small Animal Clinical Sciences department or the Veterinary Large Animal Clinical Sciences department depending upon species interest and will work collaboratively with VERO-based faculty, members of other disciplines, as well as faculty members located on the College Station campus to administer the 2 2 veterinary curriculum.
As a clinical educator, this unique position includes a primary instructional role in the first two years of the DVM curriculum with an emphasis on physiology. The occasional instruction of 4th year veterinary students at VERO is expected. Veterinarians with an interest in teaching a small cohort of eighteen veterinary students using a combination of didactic, small group teaching, and active learning sessions are encouraged to apply. This is an integrated and highly experiential curriculum, and the successful candidate will collaboratively instruct content including physiology, clinical skills, professional skills, and critical thinking as it pertains to clinical practice. Faculty in the DVM 2 2 program will be asked to “cross-over” and teach in multiple courses to reinforce content related to their subject matter interest across the 2 2 program. The veterinary clinical educator is expected to devote approximately 80-85% effort to teaching, approximately 10% effort to service, and 5-10% to scholarship. Scholarship may include collaborative research, or scholarship of teaching and learning, in his or her area of interest.
