Description

The Department of Global Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time Visiting Lecturer (Non-Tenure) position in Classics with a 9-month academic appointment for  academic year 2024-2024. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to teach four (4) courses per semester. 

The Department of Global Languages and Cultures houses degrees/programs in modern languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish) and Classics, in addition to the interdisciplinary programs in Africana Studies and Religious Studies, and the graduate (M.A. and Ph.D.) program in Hispanic Studies. The department is part of the College of Arts & Sciences, which houses 18 departments and encompasses more than 130 areas of study. Qualifications

Applicant must hold a M.A in Classics or a related field and have significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field and must have demonstrated the ability to teach both Greek and Latin at all undergraduate levels (beginning, intermediate, and advanced) as well as general courses in classical civilization (Mythology; Greek and Roman Civilization).  In addition, there may be opportunity to teach courses on Great Books, World Literature, Women in Antiquity, and similar subjects.
