The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applicants for an full-time, 9-month academic professional track (non-tenure) lecturer in English with a desired specialization in the teaching of technical editing for the 2024-2025 academic year, with likely renewal depending on satisfactory performance. The start date for the position is August 1, 2024; classes begin on August 19, 2024.
Lecturers hold non-tenured appointments with primary responsibility for teaching. Teaching assignments will include sections of technical editing, alongside courses in technical writing, freshman composition, and/or advanced writing studies courses, depending on candidate qualification and availability. The normal teaching load for the position is 4/4. Summer teaching for additional compensation is available, subject to departmental need.
Texas A&M’s English department is home to an undergraduate major and minor, a minor in health humanities, a professional writing minor, a minor in science fiction studies, and MA and PhD programs. Our course in technical editing is a core component of our growing professional writing minor, and an area of increasing interest across the university. We are looking for a dynamic teacher who can teach students to adapt to the changing contexts, technologies, and demands of advanced writing and editing in various workplaces.
