Description

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time non-tenure track position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning Fall 2024. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Instructional Assistant Professor. Teaching areas of particular interest include graduate and undergraduate statistics and research methods, psychometrics, advanced statistical methods in their area of expertise, and other courses within the candidate’s expertise. We seek candidates who have a strong record of instruction, a commitment to developing students' quantitative skills, and enthusiasm for the opportunity to contribute to the continued success of our graduate programs. The successful candidate will be expected to serve on graduate thesis and dissertation committees as appropriate to their expertise, as well as contribute to the positive collaborative environment of the department through service in the department, university, or field-specific roles.  Such service may include research on pedagogy, methods development, or areas of interest to the candidate. The typical teaching load for this position is 3 courses in each of the Fall and Spring semesters. Summer teaching is available on a case-by-case basis. Note that this is a promotable track, with advanced titles of Instructional Associate and Instructional Full Professor. The exact ratio of teaching, service, and research is negotiable, but this position will be predominantly focused on teaching.

 

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Texas A&M University is a community of scholars committed to generating scientific discoveries in the discipline, providing rigorous undergraduate and graduate education, and engaging in outreach about psychology and the application of psychological science. We offer doctoral programs in clinical psychology, cognition and cognitive neuroscience, social and personality psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, and behavioral and cellular neuroscience, and a Master's program in industrial/organizational psychology. We currently have 50 full-time faculty in tenure and non-tenure stream titles, approximately 150 graduate students, and nearly 2,000 undergraduate majors. Qualifications

A PhD in psychology or a closely related field is required. Candidates must have a degree in hand by start date.
