The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy at Texas A&M invites applications for a full-time, academic, professional track (non-tenure) faculty position with an 11-month academic appointment beginning Fall 2024 on the Kingsville campus. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Instructional Associate Professor or Instructional Professor, depending on qualifications. The new faculty position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong commitment to an academic career emphasizing innovative teaching and scholarly activities in the area of teaching and learning.

Reporting to the Department Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the faculty member will serve as a mentor to faculty by supporting the development of teaching skills; engage in, encourage, and support the faculty in the scholarship of teaching and learning; provide curricular oversight of team-, and individual-taught courses; and promote effective team and individual teaching in courses taught by faculty in the two academic departments (pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences). The responsibilities are as follows:

60% Teaching Responsibilities

· Teach in the School of Pharmacy PharmD curriculum to include integrated and individually taught courses across both departments.

· Teach in the Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences program and/or other school programs, as needed.

30% Administrative Responsibilities

· Work with the Office of Academic Affairs and department heads to oversee the continuous quality improvement process of faculty teaching within the school of pharmacy.

· Oversee faculty development activities in teaching and learning across both departments.

· Mentor faculty in both departments in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

· Develop and deliver faculty development activities in active learning techniques, course management skills, and the use of technology for course improvement.

· Service within and outside of the school, including but not limited to committee service, student applicant interviews, and student advising.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

10% Scholarship Responsibilities

· Engage, publish, mentor and support faculty in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree in pharmaceutical sciences or a related discipline, and/or a professional pharmacy degree (PharmD), and five years of didactic teaching experience in a pharmacy or health related program. The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will also have a strong background in teaching and curricular oversight and will provide vision, direction, and leadership to the faculty to improve curricular effectiveness through the integration of active learning and other educational strategies, use of modern technologies, development of course management skills, and curricular innovation and oversight. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a strong commitment to scholarship of teaching and learning and its assessment.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Strong team-building and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to provide faculty development in active learning techniques, course management skills, and use of technology in enhancing course delivery.

· Ability to develop a cohesive, cross-departmental team for effective delivery of integrated and team-taught courses.

· Ability to mentor and model faculty in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
