Description

The Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time professional track (non-tenure) academic position in Fisheries Management and Ecosystems with a 9-month academic appointment beginning August 1, 2022, or as negotiated. The positions will consist of 80% teaching (3-3), and 20% service appointment. We seek applicants for the faculty title of Instructional Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach undergraduate and occasional graduate courses in areas that may include courses such as Aquaculture I and II, Pond and Small Impoundment Management, Aquatic Vegetation Management, Fisheries Management Techniques, Principles & Practices of Wildlife/Fisheries Management, Fish Disease, and Fish Physiology.
  • Serve as a graduate faculty member.
  • Participate in university, college, and department activities and service including providing guidance in the department’s summer field course.
  • Engage external stakeholders in identifying and maintaining course content that is relevant and supportive of departmental curriculum.
  • Organize and supervise student-developed competitive submissions for local, regional, and national awards and recognition.
  • Mentor undergraduates and engage with undergraduate student organizations.
  • Demonstrate commitment to campus inclusivity and diversity.
Qualifications

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in an appropriate fisheries discipline with demonstrated capability in teaching programs and working with stakeholder groups. Applicants must document or otherwise demonstrate their:

  • ability to be creative, innovative, organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful;
  • Inclusive knowledge of fisheries management principles in application;
  • Ability to maintain a robust educational program that meets student needs;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide transformative learning to students; and
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, and longitudinal evaluation.

Ideal applicants will document or otherwise demonstrate having strong existing relationships with industry groups.
