Description

The Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics (NExT) at the School of Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications with a PhD or MD/PhD in an area of neuropharmacology for a full-time tenured or tenure-track position with an 11-month, academic appointment beginning 09/01/2023. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of assistant, associate or full professor depending on qualifications. 
This position is to enhance and support existing research activities in the NEXT department by continuing a high level of expertise in neurophysiology and implementing  new in vivo recording and imaging techniques using molecular, cellular or systems level  approaches such as electrophysiology, optogenetics, use of fluorescent sensors and/or behavioral neurophysiology. Successful applicants are expected to engage in teaching of medical and graduate students especially in pre-clerkship medical pharmacology and in pharmacology taught in graduate courses for M.S. and Ph.D. students in the Medical Sciences Graduate Programs. The  successful candidate will also be expected to participate in services to the NExT Department, School of Medicine and Texas A&M University.

Qualifications

This position requires a PhD or MD/PhD in the neurosciences, a minimum of two years of post-doctoral training, and some experience with graduate and/or medical school teaching. Preferred qualifications include expertise in neurophysiology at the molecular, cellular or systems levels.
