The School of Engineering Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications for the position of Instructional Assistant Professor, Instructional Associate Professor, or Instructional Professor, commensurate with qualifications, and Senior Associate Dean of Entrepreneurship and Strategic Projects. This is a full-time, 11-month, academic professional track (non-tenure) appointment with a start date in the Fall of 2024. The School of Engineering Medicine is headquartered in Houston, Texas, adjacent to the Texas Medical Center.

Responsibilities for this position are primarily academic service to SEM, but because the position is on the instructional track, some teaching will be a component.
This position is a critical leadership position for School of Engineering Medicine (SEM) and is responsible for assisting faculty and students in translating research and innovation projects into tangible contributions that are impactful in the health sector. This role is responsible for the general oversight of student innovation projects and ensuring progression of these projects. This role will also lead to the creation of an Incubator/Accelerator to both educate and help inform potential translation of student and faculty innovation technologies. Developing and managing internal/external partnerships will also be critical. This position will report to the Executive Associate Dean of the School of Engineering Medicine.
Duties include:
- Development and oversight of an Incubator/Accelerator to educate parties and inform translation of student and faculty innovation technologies
- Work with the respective TAMU and collaborator contracting offices to establish IP agreements as necessary
- Collaborate with SEM partners to identify potential mentors to guide development of student innovations
- Develop partnerships with government, industrial and international groups, which are critical towards the successful commercialization of projects.
- Support open communications across all faculty/staff, both those within the school as well as those from other colleges and institutions
- Ensure appropriate affiliation agreements and MOUs are in place with hospitals, practitioners, institutions, etc. (as needed)
- Teach courses as assigned and develop courses to integrate topics of entrepreneurship and commercialization
- Exhibit conduct consistent with the philosophy and mission of SEM and TAMU. Demonstrate understanding of standards and expectations specific to the department/unit and adheres to policies, procedures, and guidelines to meet or exceed such standards
