The Marine Engineering Technology program aims to produce graduates who become successful in the marine engineering industries related to design, operations, and management and who have technical competence in engineering systems and the practical applications of those systems. The program provides students with two scholastic avenues: a License Option and a Non-License Option. The License Option is intended for cadets of the Texas A&M Maritime Academy who take the U.S. Coast Guard license examination and earn their Merchant Mariner Credential, enabling them to serve as an engineering officer aboard a seagoing vessel.
