The Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology (VTPP), College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University (https://physiology.tamu.edu/) invites high caliber applicants for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of  Assistant Professor or  Associate Professor with an 11 month appointment specializing in any of the areas of Physiology represented in the Department: Reproductive Sciences; Toxicology; Cardiovascular Physiology; Regenerative Medicine; and Bone Biology. We are particularly interested in candidates using molecular, cellular and/or genetic approaches to investigate disease processes, large animal models, endocrine influences on cardiovascular disease as well as reproduction and development.  Anticipated start date is June 2020. 

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an energetic, extramurally well-funded research program; engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research; as well as teach in the undergraduate, graduate or veterinary professional programs. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with candidate experience. Candidates to the rank of Associate Professor are expected to have an established, federally funded research program. Candidates to the rank of Assistant Professor must have a successful postdoctoral training experience with a record of research excellence and strong potential for obtaining competitive federal grants to support their research agenda. A strong track record of peer-reviewed publications as well as evidence of a potential for teaching and mentorship are also desired. The successful applicant must also possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills with a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.

VTPP includes 34 faculty members and is one of five academic departments in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. Scholarly activities of the faculty are diverse and teaching occurs at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional level. Research strengths in the College include Toxicology; Reproductive Biology; Infectious Diseases and Biodefense; Epidemiology and Public Health; Biomedical Genomics; Neuroscience. The College strongly encourages collaborative research and is a role model for “One Health’ through its research affiliations with a variety of sister institutions, including the Texas A&M Health Science Center, Texas Medical Center, the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, the Texas Heart Institute, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory.

Qualifications

Candidates are required to have either a PhD, DVM or MD and a research focus in the field of biomedical sciences. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
