Description

The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Culture, College of Education at Texas A&M University invites applications for a 3 full-time, tenure-track, positions with a 9-month, academic appointment beginning Fall 2021. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Assistant or Associate Professors depending on qualifications.

Responsibilities of the position include a) maintaining a vibrant funding and research agenda in middle grade or secondary education that can be complimented in a content/context area of education of national/international significance, b) teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and c) enhancing and elevating middle grade or high school education research and practice applied to the preparation of the next generation of teacher, researchers and academic leaders.

A successful candidate is expected to conduct research, teach graduate and undergraduate courses in middle grade or high school education content and pedagogy in teacher education/culture and curriculum, mentor graduate/undergraduate students and work collaboratively with faculty within our department and across campus. The candidate is also expected to seek and secure external funding from a variety of sources to support research activities, and to contribute to the on-going activities and initiatives of the Department, College, and University.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in education with depth of study and research in a content subject matter focused middle grade or high school education, or a closely related field;
  • A record of research-based publications in top tier journals;
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching evidence-based approaches to learning and instruction in middle grade or secondary education;
  • A record of extramural funding supporting a well-defined research agenda.
  • Strong evidence of commitment to diversity and engagement in professional leadership activities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Program development and leadership experience in middle grade or high school teacher education, curriculum and instruction or;
  • Experience in teaching middle grade or high school principals and evidence-based practices in content-area instruction particularly for students in urban environments and/or at-risk for academic difficulties;
  • Application and integration of new technologies and evidence-based interventions in middle grade or secondary education responsive to the diverse, highly impacted and underrepresented student populations;
  • Evidence of effective post-secondary teaching experience, and;
  • Engagement in service activities within an academic department.
