Clinical Assistant Professor in Human Development and Family Sciences

The Department of Educational Psychology, School of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University (effective August 15, 2024, the School of Education and Human Development will change its name to the College of Education and Human Development) invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS). Primary responsibilities will be instruction and active engagement of students in the HDFS undergraduate program, including the design and instruction of a range of undergraduate-level HDFS courses, supervision, and engagement of students in high-impact learning activities and in community practicum, and occasional graduate- level instruction. The HDFS undergraduate program is a newly established degree at Texas A&M University, and this position allows the faculty to work closely with faculty in the Learning Sciences division and other programs in the Department of Educational Psychology to successfully launch and grow this new program. Applicants are expected to have successful university-level teaching experiences with undergraduate students.

Responsibilities for this position include:
1)  Teach courses aligned with traditional educational psychology (EPSY) programs
2)  Develop, design, and lead instruction for upper-level undergraduate courses featured in traditional human development and family sciences (HDFS) programs
3)  Work to develop community partnerships and connections that accentuate curriculum and lead to creation of directed studies, field practicum, or internship opportunities for students
4)  Assist with accreditation of HDFS program to meet National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) standards for certification
5)  Establish an action-oriented research agenda that features Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) efforts and initiatives
6)  Collaborate with program faculty to grow the Human Development and Family Sciences degree and contribute to its success

Appointment:

This is a full-time nine-month academic professional track appointment beginning August 1, 2025. Salary and start-up package are competitive and commensurate with rank, qualifications, and evidence of experience

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1)  Earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (EPSY), Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS), or related field
2) Experience teaching traditional EPSY or HDFS related courses

Preferred Qualifications:

1)  Experience in course design and development
2)  Experience in integrating high-impact practices into instruction
3)  Experience in coordinating directed studies, field practicums, internships, study abroad, or other real-world based educational experiences
4)  Experience in incorporating service- or community-based learning into curriculum
5)  Active membership in or experience collaborating with National Council on Family Relations (NCFR)
