Description

The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Culture in the School of Education and Human Development (effective August 15, 2024, the School of Education and Human Development will change its name to the College of Education and Human Development) at Texas A&M University is seeking one full-time academic professional track (non-tenure) Clinical Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Assistant Professor of Teacher Education. 

This position is a nine-month appointment with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. 

We invite applications for an academic professional track (non-tenure) open rank Clinical Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in teacher education in at least one or more of the following areas of interest within teacher education: teaching as inquiry, the contexts of teaching, mentoring novice educators, preservice teacher preparation, developing teacher leaders, teacher professional development, international teacher education, teaching minoritized and/or underserved students. 

Major responsibilities include: designing and teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in the teacher education program, advising and mentoring M.Ed, EdD, and PhD students. Typically, teaching responsibilities include 12 semester hours ( 4 courses per semester). In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to national and international scholarship, be involved with local, state, and national activities that support the practice of teacher education, and participate in service to the Program, Department, College, and University. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

•An earned doctorate in education or a Ph.D. in a related field and a depth of study and research in Teacher Education

•A passion for high impact teaching, innovation and scholarship in teacher education as a practice and as an area of disciplined research inquiry

•Experience in teaching courses that address content within the scope of the standards for students, educators, education leaders

•Experience in teaching online courses

•Expertise in at least one or more of the following sample areas of interest within teacher education: teaching as inquiry, the contexts of teaching, mentoring novice educators, preservice teacher preparation, developing teacher leaders, teacher professional development, international teacher education, teaching minoritized and/or underserved students.

•An active research agenda in any of the aforementioned areas of teacher education

•Teaching experience, preferably in highly diverse K-12 settings

•Post-secondary teaching experience

•Evidence of commitment to engagement in professional leadership activities.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

•We welcome applications from scholars using innovative, critical and/or interdisciplinary conceptual and/or methodological lenses in their research and who research speaks to emerging issues in teacher education that help move the field forward in generative directions

•Ability to work across departments (e.g., history; geography) in the preparation of secondary history teachers;

•Experience in multiple teaching formats ( e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, on-line) and writing intensive courses;

•Service activities within an academic department or professional organization.
